Key Operating Points for Shandong Reciprocating Vacuum Pumps

Summary:
When starting a Shandong reciprocating vacuum pump, you should check whether the rotation direction is correct. The operating environment for a Shandong reciprocating vacuum pump should be kept clean, dry, and free from significant temperature fluctuations. If the ambient temperature falls below 5°C, after stopping the pump, you should drain the water from the cooling water jacket to prevent the pump body from freezing and cracking when the temperature drops to zero. Now, let’s take a closer look at the key operational points for running a Shandong reciprocating vacuum pump.
The Shandong reciprocating vacuum pump is designed for pumping only clean, dry air. After 1,000 hours of operation, inspect the vulnerable components such as the piston, piston rings, guide rails, gas valves, bearings, crossheads, and sealing rings. If any wear is detected, repair or replace these parts promptly.
I. Key Operating Points for Shandong Reciprocating Vacuum Pumps:
Pump start
1. Check whether the connections and bolts of each part are loose.
2. Check the oil level in the machine base oil sump.
3. Check the belt tension and adjust it if necessary.
4. Check whether the motor and its wiring are intact and properly connected.
5. Manually rotate the pulley to make the large pulley turn more than two full revolutions. The moving mechanism must not have any obstructions or unusual noises.
6. Open the gate valves on the inlet and outlet pipelines, the bypass valve on the outlet pipeline, and the air-release valve on the pump body. As soon as all the liquid has overflowed from the air-release valve, immediately close (tighten) the air-release valve.
7. After confirming that the pump is unobstructed and operating normally, connect the motor power supply and start the pump. Ensure that the bypass valve is fully open; do not close the discharge valve of the reciprocating pump.
8. When the Shandong reciprocating vacuum pump reaches its rated speed (running under no-load conditions), close the bypass valve, and the pump can then switch to load operation. Once the pump reaches its rated pressure, it will enter working mode.
Stop the pump
1. Open the bypass valve on the drainage pipeline to put it into no-load operation.
2. Cut off the motor power supply.
3. Close the gate valves and bypass valves on the inlet and outlet pipelines.
Precautions
1. Never start the pump when there is no liquid inside the pump body.
2. It is strictly prohibited to start the pump when the gate valves and bypass valves on the inlet and outlet pipelines are closed.
3. During operation under load, the instantaneous pressure shall not exceed 110% of the rated pressure.
4. During operation, absolutely no repair work is permitted on the pump to prevent accidents.
5. After a new pump or a majorly overhauled pump has been installed and positioned, run it at no load for more than 2 hours before starting up. Then, gradually increase the pressure to one-quarter of its rated working pressure while under load. It is recommended to raise the pressure every 30 minutes. After identifying and rectifying any issues, continue with the test run. If there are no conditions for stepwise pressure increases, you may also directly and slowly raise the pressure to the rated value; however, the pump must run at no load for more than 34 hours in this case.
Inspection during pump operation
1. Check whether the power unit is operating normally and whether the lubricating oil level is within the specified range.
2. Check whether the temperatures of various components are normal: specifically, the bearing temperature must not exceed 80°C, the motor temperature must not exceed 85°C, the lubricating oil reservoir temperature must not exceed 75°C, and the temperature at the friction pair between the plunger and the sealing ring must not exceed 75°C.
3. Check whether the indication on the pump outlet pressure gauge and the pump’s displacement meet the operational requirements.
4. Check the operation of the pump’s inlet and outlet valves; there should be no unusual noises.
5. Check whether the adjusting nut on the seal housing is loose. If significant liquid leakage occurs during plunger operation, stop the pump immediately, tighten the adjusting nut promptly, or replace the sealing ring.
6. Check whether the screws (bolts) and flange nuts at all parts are loose or tightened.
